20 New High School Reading Sets

Castle Learning has just released 20 new reading sets in the course: English.  The new reading sets reflect many of the principles suggested in the Common Core Standards. The passages are longer and more intense- raising the textual complexity and asking students to look for evidence within the text for answers.
Castle Learning has also included several informative pieces in this batch of reading sets. The Common Core is emphasizing more informational reading to prepare students for college and careers.  Many of the new sets focus on interesting historical events and scientific findings. Those passages that are fiction are often set during important historical events.  The questions have also been modified to reflect the new Common Core goals. Teachers will see that questions, hints, and reasons ask students for evidence and constantly refer to the actual text.
